Job Description Summary
Under limited supervision, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through experience, specialized training or certification to perform advanced credit analysis and support Portfolio Managers in evaluating investment grade (IG) and high yield (HY) corporate debt investments. Responsibilities include analyzing financial statements, assessing credit risk, leading due diligence efforts, monitoring existing holdings, and preparing detailed written credit reports and recommendations. Provides guidance on complex issues, exercises independent judgment, and may lead projects or mentor junior associates. Work is varied and complex, requiring evaluation, originality, and ingenuity in decision-making. Exposure to structured products (ABS, MBS, CMBS) is considered a plus.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Develops expertise in assigned industries and issuers to assess creditworthiness and relative value across IG and HY markets.
- Performs comprehensive credit analysis including financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and capital structure evaluation.
- Makes investment recommendations to portfolio managers with respect to companies in assigned industries.
- Monitors portfolio holdings and proactively identifies material credit developments, risks, and catalysts.
- Analyzes macroeconomic and industry trends impacting credit performance and portfolio positioning.
- Prepares written credit reports, investment recommendations, and ongoing surveillance updates.
- Assist in product education and marketing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Company's working structure, policies, mission, and strategies.
- Strong concepts, practices and procedures of research analysis.
- Strong investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry.
- Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.
- Financial markets and products.
- Detailed working knowledge of corporate finance and financial statement analysis.
- Experience with credit analysis, including corporate, government and agency debt, as well as ABS, CMO,CMBS analysis for evaluating balance sheets of small cap and mid cap financial companies.
Skill in:
- Performing quantitative and qualitative credit analysis.
- Interpreting financial statements and identifying credit risks and trends.
- Identifying relationships, drawing logical conclusions, and interpreting results.
- Preparing and delivering clear, effective, and professional presentations.
- Using required software applications to produce reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Ability to:
- Analyze complex financial data and make informed credit recommendations.
- Organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks with critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all organizational levels.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field and a minimum of three (3) to six (6) years of relevant experience in corporate credit analysis (IG and/or HY) or fixed income investing.

CFA designation or progress toward CFA strongly preferred.
